Why Spend 50¢ a Day On Internet Security?

WHY SPEND 50 MEASLY CENTS A DAY ON INTERNET SECURITY
Most people think that a SAFE Internet should be a given - FREE. I agree. It should be. But it's not. Let me repeat that:
The Internet is NOT SAFE and SAFETY IS NOT FREE.
I won't go into lengthly philosophical discussion on this – you can read all about it in my book "Cyberspace: The Human Dimension." Suffice it to say that because the Internet itself was based on idealistic assumptions about human nature, it is vulnerable to that small percentage of cybercriminals (there are only about 10 – 20 million of those according to the FBI) who exploit the Internet for illegal gain.
According to the very reputable FBI / CSI Computer Crime and Security Survey (see http://www.cpppe.umd.edu/Bookstore/Documents/2005CSISurvey.pdf)
small businesses (less than $10Million in revenues) spent over $358 per employee in 2005 for PC security software and support. Big businesses (over $10Million in revenues) spent about $180 per employee in 2005 for PC security software and support. So don't think that just because you don't have any corporate databases to protect that you can get away with spending less. With PC security, the past 20 years of experience tells me that you definitely get what you pay for. And if you don't pay for PC security, you get headaches, hassles, and losses that cost you FAR, FAR more.
So consider that $200 per year paid by big companies to be a good benchmark. But do you get peace of mind and good security just spending that $200 per year on Norton and Geek Squad? If you're laughing right now, then you've probably studied this as much as I have. No, you need much better than consumer-grade protection. That's why I recommend INVISUS – they offer expert support and negotiate licenses for corporate grade software from some of the best security software providers in the business: Sophos, CounterSpy, Kerio, Commodo, etc.
It wasn't until I tried INVISUS for the 30 day money-back-guarantee trial period and thought about what I was actually getting for that $14.99/month that I could see what a great value it actually is.
What impressed me most was that my PCs that had INVISUS installed were running so much better than I could ever remember them running before. Not only were they running faster and smoother, but I
wasn't having any of the little glitches that seemed so common before. I was enjoying my computer more – PRICELESS!
The second thing I noticed was how much time and psychic energy I was saving. I no longer had to worry about keeping each of our five PCs safe. Even the one the kids used was no longer a headache. I simply quit all the Internet-security related searching, shopping, rebate hassling, installing, downloading, and
so on. It was easily noticeable – I estimate I had once spent 5 to 10 hours a month on that stuff. With INVISUS, I might spend an hour a month total on security now. That's it. It may be hard for me to put a price on that 5 to 10 hours a month when combined with the extra peace of mind I've been enjoying ever since I started INVISUS, but I would pay at least a hundred bucks A MONTH not to lose INVISUS coverage on all my PCs – and that's no exaggeration. Kathy even noticed how much more I was enjoying life once I quit worrying about keeping our computers safe and functional.
So, to summarize my perspective: INVISUS = $54.95 a month for all 5 of my PCs. Not having INVISUS = at least 4 hours per PC a month = 20 hours / month trying to keep up with the hackers plus the stress of knowing that I'm on my own in fighting the bad guys who are constantly attacking my PCs. For me, that's a no-brainer decision. That means I'm buying back 20 hours of my time for $54.95 a month – a no-brainer. The time I save and the peace of mind I enjoy is easily worth every penny I've paid and will keep on paying for INVISUS. But for others, I understand there's probably more analysis necessary before making a decision like this. So let's look at it from several other angles.
Let's consider how much it would cost you to try to do it yourself.
The minimum quality of software you need is as follows:
- A client-side, bi-directional firewall (Zone Alarm Pro, $79.95
a year)
- Enterprise-grade anti-virus software (Trend Micro Anti-Virus,
$29.94 / year if you buy 5 licenses)
- Best-of-breed anti-spyware protection (CounterSpy is $19.95 /
year promotional pricing)
That's $129.84 a year for quality software licensing.
INVISUS software licenses are included in your subscription. Never pay for software licenses and upgrades again!
Now let's look at support costs.
What I've found is that when you first move to quality PC security software, support is virtually mandatory. Trying to do it yourself is a recipe for headaches, problems, frustration, and more. Malware can be nasty and in many cases just doesn't give up its hold on your PC easily. So as you move to better security, you
need good support to help you do it. You could try to move to the above packages one at a time on your own, but chances of having problems of one kind or another are fairly high – especially if your PC is already compromised somehow. If you were to pay Geek Squad, for example, to come out to your house and help you move to the solution above and clean up and lock down your PC (similar to what INVISUS support does – except that INVISUS does it over the phone or over the Internet), you would pay $129.99. Subsequent support calls could cost $39 for a simple problem that Norton support could handle to $2.95 per minute for help from ZoneAlarm. So support is EXPENSIVE but NECESSARY.
INVISUS premium support is unlimited and INCLUDED in your subscription. Never pay extra for PC Security support again! It's the way support should be. It means INVISUS is taking the risk of your software failing.
So let's sum it up: the Do-It-Yourself approach to getting the quality protection, support, and insurance you truly need costs about $130 a year for software, well over $150 for even minimum
levels of support. That totals at about $280 a year for one PC.
The cost for INVISUS, which provides clearly superior protection, support, and insurance to what you can get with the Do-It-Yourself approach? For one PC, it's $194.88 for the first year and $179.88
each year thereafter. That's about 50 cents a day, and less than our $200 / year benchmark.
Why the similarities in the respective costs? It's not a coincidence – INVISUS lets you take advantage of the same economies of scale that big businesses enjoy. In other words, because INVISUS has so many subscribers, they can afford to retain full-time security experts, staff support centers, negotiate volume
licensing agreements with the software companies. You get all the benefits of teaming with other subscribers in what we call the Cyberhood Watch program – all INVISUS subscribers are helping other INVISUS subscribers. You're no longer going it alone.
As if all that weren't enough, now let me tell you how you can get the INVISUS PC Security Solution for EVEN LESS! INVISUS has an affiliate referral discount program, called the 5&Free Program, which is designed to incent subscribers to share the INVISUS service with family and friends. It's simple: you join the program
and get 5 CDs for $14.99 (including S&H). Then, whenever you tell someone about INVISUS (or share one of the CDs with them) and they sign up using your INVISUS Customer ID as their sponsor, you get 20% of their subscription costs discounted against your subscription cost, EVERY MONTH. For example, if I had one PC covered and was paying $14.99 per month for my INVISUS subscription, and I showed INVISUS to my neighbor, who signed up their 2 PCs for the service for $24.98 per month, I'd get $5 a month off your subscription and pay only $9.99 a month to INVISUS beginning with the 2nd month of your neighbor's
subscription. Refer as few as five and you can even reduce it to ZERO! That's right, you could be getting all of the great benefits of INVISUS for zip, nada, zero – within just a few months of starting your subscription. I'll even help you win over those friends and family – just send them here to this blog. And if you'd like me to talk with them in person, that can be arranged too.
