If you can possibly scrape together $50 a month (and I can no more imagine going without iSimplify than trying to go without phone service or Internet access), then iSimplify is worth every penny and more. • Unlimited Access to Trained Technicians – The most important part of iCare (as with all the INVISUS services) is the unlimited, no-extra-fees phone access to U.S.-based support and security experts. Support Hours are 7am to 8pm MST Monday through Friday, and 7am to 3pm MST on Saturday. Just enter a help request online and they'll usually call you right away. Or call them directly at (801)724-6210 and your time on hold can usually be measured in seconds – or at the longest, a few minutes.
• PC Tune-ups on demand – Just ask them to give your system a complete Tune-up and the technicians will (via remote access with your permission) defragment and clean your registry and hard drive, and do everything else necessary to ensure that your PC is performing faster and better than new.
• Problem Diagnosis & Repair – Whenever your PC or peripheral gives you problems, you can now get it fixed (if it can be fixed) by an expert. If you ask me, this is PRICELESS and has made my INVISUS subscription worth every penny.
• Installation Assistance – Do you realize how often you need to install new software or update your existing software (Windows, Office, your browser, your PDF reader, etc. etc.)? Now, I just call the iCare Technician every few weeks and ask him to install / update everything for me while I have lunch. What used to be a real productivity killer is now a cakewalk.
• Automatic Updates to the INVISUS security software. Stop hassling keeping your security software current, and never buy security software again. I didn't realize how much time and mental energy I was spending trying to get my security software for free and keep it up to date until I subscribed to INVISUS and quit hassling over it all. I had been downloading, registering, re-registering, renewing, filing rebates, & updating, for 3 separate programs, pretty regularly. • Credit Watch – You get the benefits of credit monitoring without the hassles. They'll regularly monitor your credit for suspicious activity and make sure you get printed copies of your credit report from each of the three credit bureaus annually, along with personal guidance in analyzing your reports. If you need help in interpreting the information or looking for signs of fraud, all you need to do is call.
• Full Identity Recovery – The primary purpose of having strong identity protection is to make sure that you're going to get the best help possible when your identity is actually compromised – and this is where iDefend shines. You just sign some simple documents to give the trained professionals at NIDR the power to help you recover, and they'll take it from there, doing everything necessary to restore your identity and compromised information to its pre-theft status. • $25,000 Identity Theft Insurance – A comprehensive identity theft insurance policy (underwritten by AIG) for you and your spouse – whether your identity is stolen online or offline. A zero deductible plan with identity restoration cost reimbursement up to $25,000 for each spouse including legal defense expenses, lost wages, court costs, etc.

Pricing

Please note that the Initial Setup includes the first month's subscription fee. Thus, you pay the Initial Setup fee at the time you first subscribe, and the monthly subscription fee in advance each month beginning 30 days after you subscribe.

• Monthly Subscription Fee:
  $49.99 per month for the 1st PC under iCare and for the Family Plan under iDefend
  $42.99 per month for the 1st PC under iCare and for the Individual Plan under iDefend

Subscription Commitment

INVISUS invests heavily in subscriber satisfaction. One indication that it's working for them is that their customer retention rate is over 80%, which is, I think, quite impressive given the fact that they are pioneering new subscription-based business models in the PC services arena. Their Initial Setup Fee doesn't come close to covering their costs in providing the service – just compare their pricing with GeekSquad's for comparable services and you'll see what I mean. INVISUS is going for what they call "raving fans," and most of their subscribers are exactly that.

So what they ask in return for giving subscribers the initial service for such low prices is a one-year commitment following a 30-day trial period (the price of which is included in the Initial Setup Fee). Most personal services these days (think cable or satellite TV or cell phone service) require similar commitments but without the trial period.

Cancellation Policy

If you are not happy with the INVISUS service you receive during the first 30 days, you can cancel and avoid paying any cancellation penalty or subsequent monthly fees. If you cancel anytime after the first 30 days but before the one year anniversary of your initial subscription date, they reserve the right to charge you a $45 early cancellation fee to help INVISUS cover their costs. They will often waive that fee upon request, however, IF you encounter a problem that they can't resolve or IF in their judgment they need to do so to be fair to you. They evaluate it on a case by case basis and do not routinely waive the cancellation fee.

The Initial Setup fee, however, is non-refundable – which is totally understandable given the value it offers in the first place. Where else can you get your system completely cleaned up by plain English-speaking experts following a malware attack for $29.99?

System Requirements:

If you don't measure up to the following system requirements (which represents a PC being sold , it means that it is simply to expensive for INVISUS to protect your PC and keep it running smoothly, so you don't get the same guarantee of protection or support for any non-complying components. It's probably time for you to consider buying a new PC. If you haven't checked prices lately, PCs are now less expensive than televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, and ovens. And arguably a whole lot more useful. Time to splurge.

Summary

I understand that most people can't be easily convinced to start spending $50 a month, because I put myself through college selling life and health insurance. Yet most people pay far more than $50 / month for various other kinds of insurance that provide less peace of mind and protection against threats, risks, and hassles that are not nearly as likely or as real or as the threats, risks, and hassles posed by cybercrime, identity theft, and the complexity and problems of PCs.

So consider your lifestyle and the dangers we face in modern life that simply weren't much of a problem even 10 years ago. If you're reading this, you're a PC user on the Internet – and that alone means that you are almost certain to face PC hassles and highly likely to be a victim of identity theft or cybercrime unless you take serious measures to protect your PC, yourself, and your family.
